Paul Liberty

Vice President for Government and Community Relations, George Mason University

Paul Liberty was appointed Vice President for Government and Community Relations in October 2012, reporting directly to President Ángel Cabrera. As Vice President, he oversees a team working with federal, state, and local governments as well as the business and civic communities. He leads several major university-wide initiatives and is a member of the university’s Executive Council and President’s Council.

Prior to this appointment, Mr. Liberty served as Interim Vice President for University Relations, responsible for managing community relations, creative services, events management, media and public relations, university information, and web communications.

Paulo Costa has applied his significant experience as a fighter pilot to a career specializing in the field of electronic warfare and flight safety, which in conjunction with his research on probabilistic reasoning has led to applications in cyber and transportation security, heterogeneous data fusion, and decision support systems in healthcare, defense, and other areas. These topics are at the core of his teaching and research.   

Phimolwan (Aung) Shepelev

Aung Shepelev coordinates services that generate over $9 million in capital formation, 25 new business starts, 200 new jobs, and 650 retained jobs per year.

Aung has  a thorough knowledge and hand-on experience with Mason Small Business Development Center and strong experience in project management, customer service, and operation control.

Aung has a Master of Business Administration from George Mason University.
