Currently, I am an M.A. student in Sociology and pursuing the graduate Women and Gender Studies certificate. I graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and a Bachelors of Arts in Political Science. I moved to Washington, DC and completed a Master of Arts at SIT Graduate Institute in Sustainable Development and International Policy. I’ve held internships at The Smithsonian Office of Policy and Analysis, The Worldwatch Institute, Phillips Wharf Environmental Center and have studied abroad in Greece, London, Scotland, Mexico, and Turkey.

I was drawn to the sociology program at Mason because it is the first program to offer a PhD in public sociology. I wanted to be part of a program that encouraged both academic and practitioner backgrounds. I am serving as the Social Chairmen for the Public Sociology Association, Conference Committee Member for 5th Annual Public Sociology Association Conference, was recently selected for the Presidential Leadership Seminar with President Dr. Ángel Cabrera, and am a reviewer for Journal of Mason Graduate Research. I was awarded a 2016 Mason Provost Summer Research Fellowship to work on my MA thesis.

My research interests focus on wellbeing, labor, race/ethnicity, first generation students, and higher education. After completing my MA, I hope to complete a doctoral degree at George Mason University in Sociology and become a professor of sociology. My long-term professional interests include higher education administration. I aspire to be a leader and advocate for first generation students wants to create change for individuals, societies, and future generations.
