Braddock Mixed-use Development

Reston Town Center

Summary

Expand Mason's Innovative Neighborhood plans (Oxbridge?) by creating infrastructure and development guidelines for mixed use development along Braddock and Shirley Gate roads.

Preliminary Plan

This plan would be greatly enhanced if the Driverless Electric Shuttles proposed in this post were implemented. Below is how the Shuttle system could be extended to support this Braddock Road project.

New Revenue Sources

Mason facilities and affiliated planners would provide specific guidelines for developers to follow. Sale or lease of property would be contingent on developers agreeing to the guidelines. The revenue potential from developers could be significant.   GMU Facilities

Innovation Neighborhood

George Mason hosted a three-day planning workshop on May 22,23,and 24, 2017, to explore various short and long term visions for the Fairfax West Campus and Southwest Sector and its connections to Fairfax City, Fairfax County and region.

Below is a modified version of what appeared to be the preferred plan of many of the charrette participants. The overall theme was “Innovation Neighborhood” patterned after a number of similar university mixed-use projects to integrate research and education with entrepreneurial incubators and ventures.
